Tom Brady Sr. appeared in “slimyPodcast with Mike Greenberg said the media had forced his son’s hand and that the future Hall of Fame quarterback prematurely said he wouldn’t be back for year 23.
“They were announcing his retirement even before he’s retired,” Tom Brady Sr. said on the podcast. “You know, the media made the news. He wasn’t ready to make any decisions and didn’t make any decisions, but [Adam] shifter and [Jeff] Darlington mentioned it as fact. As you know, no decision has been made on that.”

“He had time to think with his family,” Brady Sr. said after his retirement.
“They all agreed that this is the path that works best for the Brady family,” added Brady Sr. “He’s as happy as he can be. …it took a little time to sort this thing out. I mean he’s in kind of uncharted territory. So if people seem to think he’s missed a step, hey, welcome to our world. No. A lot of people are able to make that decision at the age of 44 years and 45 years.”
