Manchester City and Huddersfield Town A.F.C. faced off in a highly anticipated Premier League clash at the Etihad Stadium. While City went into the match as overwhelming favorites, Huddersfield came in hoping to pull off a massive upset. Here’s a detailed look at how the 90 minutes and stoppage time unfolded:

1st Minute: The match kicks off with Manchester City getting the ball rolling, looking to take control early on their home turf.

7th Minute: First real chance for City as Kevin De Bruyne’s curling shot from the edge of the box goes just wide of the post. Early warning sign for the Huddersfield defense.

12th Minute: Erling Haaland gets his first sniff at goal but his close-range header is straight at the Huddersfield keeper, who smothers it comfortably.

18th Minute: GOAL MANCHESTER CITY! 1-0. It’s that man Haaland who opens the scoring with a trademark poacher’s finish. De Bruyne whips in a teasing cross and the Norwegian hitman ghosts in behind the defense to glance a header into the far corner.

25th Minute: Huge chance for Huddersfield to equalize as a defensive mix-up leaves Danny Ward all alone inside the box. But the striker skies his shot over the bar from 10 yards out, much to City’s relief.

31st Minute: Ederson called into action to deny Huddersfield an equalizer, pushing Sorba Thomas’ low drive around the post.

37th Minute: GOAL MANCHESTER CITY! 2-0. The champions double their lead through an unlikely source – defender John Stones. De Bruyne again with the brilliant delivery from a free kick and Stones loses his marker to head powerfully past the rooted keeper.

46th Minute: Second half underway with no changes from either side as the action resumes in Manchester.

51st Minute: Golden chance for Haaland to make it 3-0 but the Norwegian scuffs his shot straight at the keeper from 10 yards after being slipped in by Ilkay Gundogan.

57th Minute: First substitution of the day for Huddersfield as Tino Anjorin replaces Jacob Brown in attack in search of a lifeline.

62nd Minute: GOAL MANCHESTER CITY! 3-0. Game over. Haaland atones for his earlier miss by stroking home a left-footed finish after a brilliant team move involving De Bruyne and Gundogan.

68th Minute: SAVE! Ederson tips Thomas’ dipping long-range strike over the bar as Huddersfield keep battling to get on the scoresheet.

73rd Minute: Double change for Manchester City as Julian Alvarez and Cole Palmer enter for Haaland and Riyad Mahrez.

76th Minute: GOAL HUDDERSFIELD TOWN! 3-1. The visitors pull one back through Sorba Thomas’ stunning free kick into the top corner. Game on?

83rd Minute: Chance for City to restore their three-goal cushion but De Bruyne’s low drive just misses the far post.

88th Minute: Final sub for Manchester City as Rico Lewis comes on for Kyle Walker.

90th Minute: Four minutes of added time to be played as Huddersfield makes one last push.

90+2 Minute: GOAL MANCHESTER CITY! 4-1. Palmer adds a late fourth for the hosts, slotting in at the near post after being picked out by Alvarez’s slide-rule pass. That should seal the three points.

Analysis: Dominant City Display

While the scoreline ended 4-1 in favor of Manchester City, the match was largely one-way traffic from start to finish. Pep Guardiola’s men looked in complete control throughout, bossing possession and creating a host of chances.

As usual, Belgian playmaker Kevin De Bruyne was the architect, continually picking apart the Huddersfield defense with his pinpoint deliveries and line-breaking passes. His pair of assists took his league-leading total to 15 on the season.

Up front, Erling Haaland struck twice to take his mind-boggling Premier League goal tally to 34 in just 25 appearances. The prolific Norwegian has been rewriting record books all season and shows no signs of letting up as City hunt an elusive Champions League crown.

While Haaland grabbed the headlines with his brace, John Stones’ thumping header was the hit that ultimately broke Huddersfield’s resistance before halftime. The center-back was a constant goal threat from set pieces all afternoon.

18-year-old Cole Palmer further enhanced his reputation with a late cameo off the bench, scoring City’s fourth goal and showing the poise and precision of a seasoned veteran on the ball.

For Huddersfield, it was a damage limitation exercise from the outset, though they did create a few half-chances of their own that could have altered the complexion of the clash before City ran away with it. Danny Ward will be rueing his skied first-half chance in particular.

Sorba Thomas’ stunning free-kick briefly gave them hope, but that joy proved short-lived as City slammed the door through Palmer’s composed fourth strike.

Overall, it was an afternoon that simply underscored the immense gulf in class and quality between the reigning Premier League champions and a team battling to avoid relegation. City’s star-studded squad had too much firepower for the overmatched visitors.

While both teams march on, Manchester City took another confident step towards defending their league crown, while Huddersfield were simply overwhelmed by the caliber of opponent they faced. In the end, the 4-1 scoreline could have been even more lopsided on another day.
