NIT 2022 bracket: Championship schedule, college basketball scores, dates, times for 32 teams

Date:

NIT’s second round now has set times and locations after the first round ends Wednesday evening. One of the highlights of the first round was Florida’s 79-74 victory over Iona. The Gators will advance to play Xavier in the second round. That match will be a showdown between programs in transition after Florida coach Mike White left to take over for Georgia and Xavier. We broke up with coach Travis Steele.

In other NIT games on Wednesday, Wake Forest gave up on disappointment by missing the NCAA Championship by defeating Towson 74-64 in a first-round match. Dallas Walton led the Demon Deacons with 17 points as scorers Alondes Williams and Jake LaRavia turned on quiet attacking nights. Damari Monsantao added 14 points from the bench in just 13 minutes for Wake Forest, who went on to play for the VCU in the second round.

It was also a good night for the Wake Forest brothers in Virginia as the Cavaliers beat Mississippi State 60-57. Dayton, SMU, Northern Iowa and BYU also advanced Monday night as the march continued to Madison Square Garden.

Success in NIT doesn’t always predict bigger things the following season, but it can happen. Last season’s champion, Memphis, is in the NCAA Championship this season. Baylor reached Sweet 16 in 2013 after the NIT title in 2012, and West Virginia did the same in 2007 after winning the NIT title in 2006. Here’s a look at full arc.
