The Kansas City Chiefs They reworked defensively ending Frank Clark’s deal to keep him in 2022-23, according to NFL network Ian Rapoport.

The Chiefs acquired 28-year-old Clark Via trade during the 2019 season. In his three seasons as head (43 games), Clarke accumulated 88 tackles (63 singles), including 24 tackles for loss, 46 lead hits, and 18.5 sacks. He was also forced to fumble five times. Clarke’s marquee extension came as president during the 2019 post-season, scoring 5.0 sacks en route to the Super Bowl title.

Clark’s cap numbers for 2022 and 2023 are set at $26.3 million and $27.8 million, respectively, and the new deal significantly reduces those strikes. The move meant Clark had his salary cut slightly to stay in Kansas City. The restructured deal should save the chiefs more than $11 million against their cap in 2022.

As we reported on these pages earlier on Monday, General Manager Brett Fitch He said the team plans to rebuild the defensive line and the defense as a wholeso returning Clark to that original maximum number was not an option.

Instead, he resides in Kansas City, where he He will work with a new defensive line coach at Joe Collin. Perhaps a fresh indoor start with Cullen is – so to speak – combined with incentives, in order to judiciously retain the defensive end.
