Falcons working on Matt Ryan trade with ponies, in multiple reports

Date:

The Falcons and Colts appear to be close to a deal that would send Matt Ryan to Indianapolis, according to multiple reports, potentially ending Ryan’s 14-year career in Atlanta and leaving the team looking for a new quarterback.

Rumors have been a relegation place for Ryan weeks ago, before Atlanta’s failed attempt to trade Deshaun Watson, and they remain the most logical relegation place as an AFC playoff team still short in the middle. We don’t have any word on what compensation it might be or when it might be done, but it looks like the two sides are close.

Pat McAfee, a longtime Colts gambler who presumably still has strong ties to the organization, says the deal is complete. He also says it may only be for a third manager.

The Colts are hoping to persuade Ryan to finish their center ring team for a while after cycling through Phillip River (which was still very good) and Carson Wentz (who melted down at the end of the year). He will join a team that does not appear to be among the elite of the AFC on paper, but can take a step forward with quality and a consistent person like Ryan in command of the attack. Ryan isn’t working at the peak of his power, but he’s still a good midfielder, and the Moults are in the right place in the team building cycle to bring him up.

In the meantime, the Falcons are hoping to get as much of Ryan’s compensation as possible to help speed up her return to relevance. It looks like the plan for all of the Offseason is to go ahead with Ryan for another year – they’ve restructured his deal ready to make more space – but now they’re going into this year needing to find multiple back players just to succeed this year. Whether they can recruit a player capable of taking the offensive long term in 2022 or they will need to wait for what is considered the strongest quarterback class in 2023, but suffice it to say that this team seems to have seen not one but two plans for this position. general fade.

In the end, if that trade passes, they’ll move on from the quarterback they drafted with the third overall pick back in 2008 and have been the team’s starter ever since. Ryan is clearly topping the team leaderboard in every important passing category, and the Hawks will have no shortage of top jobs to come when they bid him farewell. I can’t imagine that many people who own the franchise, Ryan himself, thought this would be the way it would end.

After the Hawks got involved in a commercial chase for Watson, first as a reported “long shot” and then as a finalist, they had to know they would either transfer Ryan if they succeeded or perhaps move him if they failed. It is difficult to pay a player who has spent many years with you out of the house, even partially, and then bring him back. That’s the position the Hawks found themselves in after Watson picked Cleveland, and now a team that seemed to be slowly rolling in the rebuilding process will try to find a player behind a new midfield. We’ll see if this deal goes through today.

The original story is below.

The Atlanta Falcons They dug themselves into a hole with its latest failure. The team has been successfully tapped by Deshaun Watson to get more money from Cleveland Browns. For other Watson teams, such as the Panthers and the Saints, their search for the quarterback continues. For the Hawks, who left Cleveland time to get back into the Watson race because he didn’t know what to do with Ryan, he is said to still be unsure what he might do with Ryan.

There seem to be two options: (1) Trade Ryan before his $7.5 million option guarantees Monday at 4pm, or (2) keep Ryan in 2022 and possibly pay him more money. Even without Watson’s landing, the Watson disaster appears costly to the hawks. Ian Rapoport was the latest.

The #hawks Sources say field trade calls in the past few days have centered around QB Matt Ryan. Today is the deadline to make a decision, as Ryan will receive a $7.5 million ATL roster bonus if he’s on the roster at 4 p.m. It will either be a commercial deal or go back to ATL, possibly with a sweetener.

This is a big change from earlier this month when the Hawks looked Not interested in trading Rayyan. Desperate teams have since found back players. Now whatever teams are left on Ryan, you know Atlanta is in a bad position. She’s exhausted her relationship with Ryan and can’t compete this year. Its value fell like a rock.

If the hawks kept Ryan, that “sweetener” would be in the millions of dollars. The problem with Atlanta is that there is no backup plan without Ryan. Signed up for a decent reserve/entry level quarterback. The draft has a few quarterbacks expected to start in year one. Starting a new player on a foul without blocking or passing attackers is a great recipe for ruining the career of this rising player.

The whole situation has fallen apart. Atlanta does not have good options. She can keep Brian but maybe she needs to agree to a big financial apology. If he doesn’t keep Ryan, he won’t have good options to replace him, as he has essentially defaulted on a multi-year rebuild.

Ryan’s future will be known by Monday 4 o’clock.
