Stanford, California – The university has announced the death of Katie Meyer, goalkeeper and captain of the Stanford women’s soccer team. She was 22 years old.

The university says her death occurred in on-campus housing, but no further details have been provided.

“Katie has been extraordinarily committed to everything and everyone in her world,” Stanford said in a press release. Her friends describe her as a larger-than-life team player in all her endeavors, from choosing an academic major that “changed my view of the world and the very important challenges we need to work together to overcome” to the passion she brought to the Cardinal Women’s Soccer Program and to women’s sports in general. “.

according to Biographical page published on the Stanford Athletics websiteMeyer was born in Burbank and graduated in 2018 from Century Academy in Thousand Oaks.

The school says she attended and played football at Newbury Park High for three years.
