Nvidia has reportedly been “at risk of being completely hacked” by a cyberattack.

As I mentioned telegraphparts of the graphics chip business – America’s largest chip company – have been offline for two days.

A malicious network hack affected Nvidia’s internal systems, including email tools and developers, which have been experiencing outages since last week.

It’s not yet clear if any data was stolen from Nvidia – whether it’s internal data or customer data – or if the attack was just aimed at disrupting systems.

An Nvidia spokesperson told The Telegraph: “We are investigating an incident. We don’t have any additional information to share at this time.”

Earlier in the week, a Nvidia spokesperson said Bloomberg: “Our commercial and business activities continue uninterrupted. We are still evaluating the nature and scope of the event and do not have any additional information to share at this time.”

Bloomberg also reports that the attack is not linked to the war between Russia and Ukraine, although governments and companies globally are on high alert for potential cyberattacks.

Cyber security expert Alan Woodward told The Telegraph that Nvidia will likely shut down its systems to avoid further damage.

“The ultimate concern is that someone might have put something in a software update,” Dr. Woodward said.

“They will try to make sure to see if there is any indication that anything has changed in their software which they then ship to their customers.”
