Update 02/14/22: Publisher SNK said the The Metal Gear Slug: Awakening Twitter account that explained PS4 and PS5 news below was fake.
The news was announced by an “unauthorized” Twitter account and circulated widely. “Please be careful what you read online,” SNK wrote today.

Original story 13/2/22: Metal Slug: Awakening is on its way to PlayStation consoles.
Revealed via a lock-heavy lid tweet posted earlier today, there are no further details on when the game – formerly known as Metal Slug: J and originally slated to come to mobile devices only – will be released, but we’re invited To “Stay tuned for the details, dear leaders.”
The announcement comes after last month’s beta testing of the mobile version of the game, although that was limited to WeChat and QQ users at the time. An equally enthusiastic tweet on the same account notes that the mobile game will be released “very soon” but stops short of confirming when, exactly, it might be.
At the moment, there is no word on whether the expansion will branch out to other consoles or devices.
