Ivanka Trump’s Jan. 6 Testimony Exposes Family Strain

Former President Trump has asked many of his aides and advisers to claim privilege and reject subpoenas from the House choose committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021 assault on the Capitol.

When the world first saw what Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner had to say on Thursday, the former president appeared less kind, pushing down on her testimony.

She said she accepted Attorney General William P. Barr's judgment that there was no widespread fraud affecting the vote, but her father wrongly insisted it had been stolen.

The conflict exposes a gap in a father-daughter relationship that spans family, business, and politics, according to Trump advisors.

Ivanka Trump broke with her family before Jan. 6 to avoid electoral fraud charges. She reportedly asked the president to tell his supporters to stop the Capitol violence.

Ivanka, Kushner, and Donald Trump's representatives didn't comment. One former Trump adviser disagreed that he and his daughter were angry about the testimony.

Ivanka Trump was regarded as a moderator since her parents skirted anti-nepotism rules. Supported gay rights and abortion rights, she turned a "Trump Republican"

Cooperating with investigators shows the couple's independence. Kushner worked with respected lawyers who made conciliatory public statements during the Russian investigation.
