Folly Beach bar named in $1.25 million settlement

A Folly Beach bar is negotiating a $1.25 million settlement with a widow whose husband was killed by a drunk driver the bar served.

He died just a few weeks after the crash from those injuries.

Surf Bar Folly Beach served the driver, according to a petition filed in Charleston County Courts on May 26, 2022.

The driver, Hannah Flanagan, was charged the next day with reckless driving and leaving the scene of an accident.

Flanagan is said to have had too much to drink at Surf Bar and was drunk when the accident happened.

Alice Smith and her two children are going to get $1.25 million from the bar and Flanagan's insurance.

Flanagan is still facing charges, but she is free on bond right now.

The media reached out to Surf Bar for comment, but according to Google and their phone number, they're permanently closed.
