Pennywise, the Dancing Clown, may be making his way to television—and we’re not kidding. HBO Max is developing an It prequel series. Be on the lookout for strange red balloons.

According to Variety, HBO Max is developing an It-based series that will explain the origin story of Pennywise the Clown. The miniseries tentatively titled Welcome to Derry would begin in the 1960s and follow the events of the 2017 film IT: Chapter One, starring Bill Skarsgard as Pennywise.

A narrative concerning the origins of a clown that doesn’t look to be scary at all! Andy Muschietti will serve as an executive producer with Barbara Muschietti and Jason Fuchs, who directed It: Chapter One and It: Chapter Two in 2019.

According to Variety, the story was created by Muschiettis and Fuchs, with the former directing the first episode. The script is being written by Fuchs, who also developed the idea for 2017’s Wonder Woman.

Pennywise Could Return to TV to Haunt Your Dreams Again

The two IT films, based on Stephen King’s 1986 novel of the same name, grossed over $1.1 billion worldwide and introduced a whole new generation of fans to Derry, Maine, and Pennywise the Dancing Clown.

The program would be the latest example of HBO Max building on a well-known film series. The streamer unveiled plans for a series centered on the legendary Batman villain Penguin on March 8. The series will star Colin Farrell, who played the Penguin in the film Batman 2022, and they’ll track his climb through Gotham’s shady underworld.

Pennywise, the Dancing Clown, is played by Bill Skarsgard. Supporting actors include Jeremy Ray Taylor, Sophia Lillis, Finn Wolfhard, Wyatt Oleff, Chosen Jacobs, Jack Dylan Grazer, Nicholas Hamilton, and Jackson Robert Scott.

The Losers’ Club takes place in Derry, Maine, and follows a group of seven misfit teenagers who are tortured by the titular beast that rises from the sewer, only to face their own demons. It: Part 1 Losers’ Club is another title for the film.

The sequel, which takes place 27 years after the first film, focuses on the Losers Club and their relationships as they reunite to fight It. Bill Skarsgard plays Pennywise, and the cast also features Jessica Chastain, James McAvoy, Bill Hader, Isaiah Mustafa, Jay Ryan, James Ransone, Andy Bean, and Bill Skarsgard.

What You Should Know About IT in Chapter 3 Despite the fact that the film has yet to be announced, we may hope for a sequel. It is now time for IT: the third chapter to begin, which we expect to happen in 2022. You may view IT Chapters 1 and 2 for free if you don’t have a Netflix account. Meanwhile, we’re anticipating the third installment of the supernatural horror franchise.

But don’t worry: the first two chapters of this riveting supernatural horror thriller are only available on Netflix. We won’t be allowed to embark on another dangerous adventure until 2022. Let us all hop on and wait for the upcoming Pennywise TV comeback very soon. We are all excited and hoping for the best days to haunt us all at once.
